Beautiful butterflies

August 19th, 2008

The August 08 Full Tart had a little bit of a recurring theme with butterflies. We had Scenic Route chipboard butterflies, Heidi Swapp ghost butterflies, plus the butterflies on the paper from K&Co.

Melanie Douthit had a few beautiful butterflies on her layouts. The white ones were painted with white acrylic paint on the back and once that was dry, the Stickles from the kit was popped on the front.

For Melanie’s next butterfly she put glitter glue all over the butterfly, then covered it with green glitter. Once that was dry the rhinestones were added.

August ‘08 card sketch

August 18th, 2008

I have to admit that I found the August card sketch a little bit of a challenge! All I could see in the sketch was Christmas trees! So I was very excited when the design team’s interpretations started coming through. I love them! What do you think?

Melanie’s Shadowbox

August 16th, 2008

Today I thought I would point out Melanie’s shadowbox that she made for the Half Tart gallery. There are so many really cool details, so do take a closer look!

So what do I love about it? Simply the way she has made the kite from the patterned papers and the KI lace paper. I love how she has used the 7 Gypsies Gaffer Tape to make the kite tail. I also love how she has incorporated one of my favourite stamps - Michelle’s Big Scroll - to add some movement to the kite.

Thanks Melanie!

Here is an easy door hanger project using the fun stamps and products from the July A La Tarte kit.

Step by step - Roree
1. Cut out two green patterned paper panels and one chipboard panel to 3 ¾ x 9 ½”.  Round each corner with a corner rounder punch.
Step by step - Roree
2. Measure the door knob where you will hang the door hanger, and cut out a circle at the top of each panel slightly larger than the door knob using a circle cutter.

3. Using the paper doilies in the kit, fold each doily in half three times.  Trim off the tip of each folded doily and adhere a folded flower to the bottom of each one.
Step by step - Roree
4. Adhere two pieces of ribbon to each paper panel.  There will be four ribbon piece in total, about 4 – 4 ½” long.  Adhere the paper flowers at the top of each piece of ribbon and stitch or adhere a button at the base of each flower.
Step by step - Roree
5. Using Teresa’s Banner stamp, stamp the image twice onto the blue patterned paper and twice onto the red patterned paper.  Cut out the whole banner image on the red patterned paper and just the box image on the blue patterned paper.  Adhere the blue box images to red banner images.  Decorate the stamped image with letter stickers and jewels from the kit.
Step by step - RoreeStep by step - Roree
6. Adhere the finished banners to the door hanger panels.  Then, adhere the finished paper panels to each side of the chipboard door hanger.
Step by step - Roree
7. Now, hang it on your door, choosing whichever side that suits your mood.
