May ’07 Half Tart Step by Step
Altered journal with masking technique by Melissa Phillips.
Step 1:
Cut paper to fit front of journal.Â

Step 2:
Cut strip of blue paper to fit along left side of journal, trim one edge with decorative scissors, and sand edges of both pieces of paper to distress.
Step 3:
Adhere blue strip on the backside of green paper, stitch around edges if desired using a zig zag stitch, and adhere to front of journal.

Step 4:
Place mask where desired and lightly brush off-white paint across and around mask. Let dry for a few minutes, and remove.
Step 5:
Stamp “imagine†on light blue paper, trim into a rectangle, sand edges and adhere in upper left corner.

Step 6:
Cut 2 blocks of coordinating paper to fit in upper right corner and bottom left corner. Trim bottom left corner piece with decorative scissors along the bottom edge. Adhere all pieces after sanding.
Step 7:
Attach rhinestone brads to center of 3 flowers. Adhere flowers along upper right edge of journal.

Step 8:
Wrap ribbon around inside flap of journal and tie in knot at the center of journal cover. Trim edges as show.
Step 9:
Apply rubons where desired.
