Lumpy Bumpy
There are lots of lovely store-bought products out there that can achieve this tactile effect, but they can be pricey, and sometimes you just don’t have the right embellishments to suit your project.
But everyone has patterned paper, right?
Today I am going to show you a few techniques I often employ to lift my elements off the page.
This is the layout we are looking at.
It was created using only the October Half Tart, which came with an amazing 6 pieces of the most stunning double sided Crate Paper papers. I wanted to use them all, and I wanted to make the most out of them.
So I started by making some of these gorgeous roses from Teresa’s tutorial. I cut mine with scalloped scissors. These flowers provide great texture, and they look so sweet.
But they needed leaves – so I used a punch, but you could easily hand cut a shape like this. Crease it up the centre before adhering along the fold. These leaves have just the right amount of texture.
And by the way, how gorgeous is that white and cream background paper!?
One of the Crate papers has a cute butterfly pattern all over, so I handcut a few of these out, and glued them like the leaves, applying adhesive only on the folded crease so the wings could lift off the page.
I have to say this is one of my favourite things to do. A butterfly punch always looks lovely used like this. And if you have some pearls or rhinestones on hand, they look nice on the butterfly’s body.
Foam dots are another neccessity in my stash. They can lift any paper embellishment to new heights!
Then I punched a decorative border on a couple of strips and layered them for a ruffled look. And by the way, how gorgeous are these rub ons!?
You can still grab a Half Tart HERE.
