A super quick scraps card

step headerToday I am going to share with you one of the cards I made with the Gourmet Tart.

IMGP2313

This is such a quick and easy card and perfect to use up scraps and you can re-create it using any papers and embellishments.

Step 1: Starting with a card base, cut a front out of plain paper, slightly smaller all round than your card front. This allows you to include lots of machine stitching without having any messy threads inside your card.

IMGP2280Step 2: Layer scrap strips of patterned paper top to bottom, try a decorative edge on at least one strip for interest. Adhere lightly, it’s only temporary - the stitching will hold it all together later. If you prefer not to sew, you might choose to ink edges instead, and you will need to completely adhere all paper at this point.

Step 3: Stamp your sentiment on the centre panel, be aware of where you wish to place your ribbon when completed. I have stamped just slightly in the bottom half to leave room for my ribbon bow to sit within this panel above the stamping. (You could use alpha stickers or a handwritten or computer printed sentiment here)

Step 4: Machine stitch a straight stitch all around the outside edges and a zigzag stitch on the horizontal edges of your sentiment strip. You could hand stitch this if you are patient! Or if you don’t like sewing, try a doodled faux-stitch or replace the sewing with inked edges.

IMGP2283 Step 5: Tie a ribbon bow around the panel before adhering the whole thing to your card base front. I like wide double sided tape for this – you can get right to the edges and it holds well. Glue on a couple of buttons. Or a flower.

Step 6: Make another one! A few tweaks will create a unique version without altering the design. I have made my second in this set a portrait layout instead of landscape. Changed a couple of papers, used a different thread colour for my stitching and swapped the ribbon and button positions.

If you haven’t grabbed one of these kits yet you better hurry. There’s only a couple left!  It comes with 2 Stampavie stamp sets! One of them is completley your choice! You receive instructions to assemble and decorate your gift box plus 9 cards and extra accessories. Get yours HERE.
