Colouring with watercolour pencils
A little while ago Rachael shared with us how she colours her stamped images in this post using her ink pads and today I thought I would share some tips on how I do mine using watercolour pencils.
This is a stamped image of My sweet Lil that I had previously cut out for a project but never got around to using.
I started of by adding some colour to the dress area in places that would normally be darker.

I then blended the colour through with my water brush. Starting with the darker areas and letting the colour wash out in the lighter areas.

When I had the first lot of blending sorted out how I wanted it I went over some areas again to give more definition. This time though I ran the water brush over the tip of the pencil, tested the colour on some scrap paper first and added it to the areas that needed to be a little darker.

Once I had the look I wanted for the dress I went onto the next area. When doing an image that has several areas that need to be coloured I usually try and move onto an area away from the one just coloured or leave it for a few minutes or so just in case the water from the brush has made the paper a little wet. As you can tell by my scrap paper under my image it was great for testing out just what colour to use and for cleaning my brush in between colours. I also had to bring out my handy dandy white pen to cover up the little bleed onto the Teddy’s knickers.

And here is my image popped on a birthday card for my little Missy. I used up some gorgeous leaves and some of my scraps from an old A la tart kit. They seem to sell out pretty quickly so if you would like to make sure you grab one it is worthwhile checking out the kit subscription option.

Hope you get a chance to play around with colouring in your stamped images and if you would like a few more tips on a different style of colouring stay tuned as a little birdie told me that Nic has got herself some copic markers and she may just be able to share a few tips on using them once she has had a play herself.
