Stamping and paper piecing
After seeing this gorgeous paper pieced and stamped card
that Philippa shared with us here on the blog a while back I was inspired to try and do one of my own with the newest addition to my stampavie collection Lucy and kitty and my #1 Sentiment set from Rachelle Anne Miller.
This was the first time I have attempted to do this with an image so detailed. It was a little tricky but I got there in the end.
Here are the steps I took to complete my image.
Step one
Decide on what parts of the image you want to paper piece and stamp it onto a watercolour paper base and then onto some pattern paper scraps. I am sure that like me you will all have a heap of them floating around in your stash.
Step two
Colour in the parts of the image that will not be paper pieced. Pop in here for tips on water colouring and colouring with inks.
Step three
Cut out the parts of the image that are going to be paper pieced and then arrange over the stamped image.
I found out the hard way that I need to buy myself a glue pen. My trusty DST just wasn’t going to do the job here. Lucky for me I had some dimensional magic on hand.
Step four
All done and now I had a cute little image to add onto a card. One that I ended up having to hide from Asher as she so wanted to claim it.
I would love to see some more paper pieced Stampavie images so if you have had a play around with doing so please leave a comment here with a link and I’ll check them out.
